In This Home Eggs Fry Themselves is hand-painted with synthetic dyes onto cotton and batiked with wax to create the intricate patterns sewn onto the borders. By using the ritualistic imagery of dining and exploring a non-normative domestic space, this piece queers tropes of traditional female friendship, disrupts domestic routine, and subverts heteronormative ideas of femininity. The figurative nature is derived from personal feminine influences and directly represents and obstructs traditional femininity and gendered relationships.
